Intel dual-core 'Clovertrail+' Atom processors launched

Intel unveils new generation Atom processors for smartphones and tablets, named  as Clovertrail+,claims a notable performancethen the previous generation Medfield and Clovertrail processors.

Clovertrail+ SoCs will be available in three SKUs, with similar parts and different clock speeds. The most  fastest is the Atom Z2580  and later is  the Z2560 and the Z2520. To make processing speed more better  extra Saltwell CPU core is added in new Clovertrail+  , uses the same 32nm processing tech, while maintaining Hyper Threading. The clock speed of the Z2580 hits to 2.0GHz and on the Z2560 and Z2520 it's 1.6GHz and 1.2GHz respectively. With this whole new built, Intel promises 2x faster processing performance than Medfield chips. Also you will get new more powerful SGX544MP2 instead of previous PowerVR SGX540.We are considering this as a greatest improvement. Also it is reported that this GPU is  slightly more powerful than the one in Apple's A5X(present in 3rd gen iPad with Retina display).

The upper data shows that clock speeds also differ across the SKUs, with the Z2580, Z2560 and the Z2520 getting 533MHz, 400MHz and 300MHz respectively. Intel claims the GPU in Clovertrail+ is three times faster than the previous PowerVR SHX540. It means that supported resolution now goes from 1,024 x 768 to 1,920 x 1,200.

But something is similar in Clovertrail and  Clovertrail+ .It is  2 x 32-bit LPDDR2 memory interface but at a faster 1,066MHz instead of 800MHz.The baseband has been enhanced from XMM 6260 to XMM 6360 and it means that now it has support for  3GPP release 9 with 42Mbps DC-HSPA+ (Category 24) and HSUPA category 7 (11.5 Mbps).

And last but not least, it has a new reference design for OEMs. Now it uses the Z2580 chip with 2GB of RAM, XMM 6360 baseband, 16 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front camera. It can run Android 4.2 with incredible fast processing and further modification is also subjected.
