Sony launches Xperia Z in India on March 6.Kenichiro Hibi,managing director of Sony India unit said that Sony is committed to triple the sales of their mobiles in India to Rs. 35 billion (US $638 million) in the launching event of this high end smartphone.Also in the event Katrina Kaif,the bollywood diva/ brand ambassador of Sony and Sony's Corporate vice president/head of sales and marketing Dennis van Schie were present there.The device was launched in japan last month and now available in 600countries and latest India got this.
This Sony flagship has a 5-inch full HD display,water and dust resistant,and sports a scratch resistant glass body.The device competes with HTC Butterfly,Nokia Lumia 920,BlackBerry Z10 along with incoming Samsung Galaxy S IV and LG Optimus G Pro.
Spec at a glance:the device runs on Android v4.1 (JellyBean,upgrade planned to 4.2),has a TFT Screen with 1920x1080 pixel resolution (441ppi pixel density),1.5GHz quad core processor,2GB of RAM,16GB Internal Memory (microSD card slot,up to 32GB).For sensor options it has a 13 Megapixel rear with along with LED flash ad a 2.2MP front snapper for face timing and whole unit is powered with a 2,320mAH.Also it boasts 3G and 4G connectivity along with Wi-Fi,NFC,Bluetooth 4.0 and micro USB v2.0 for local data transfer.
According to research firm Canalys,Sony has a 9% share of smartphone market last quarter,makes it No. 2 and Samsung is on 1st with 40%.
